PocketPurchase, Inc. Launches Purchasing System for Palm Powered Mobile Devices at PalmSource Developer Seminar

Allows Customers to Buy Software Directly on their Mobile Device

PALMSOURCE DEVELOPER SEMINAR, SAN MATEO, Calif. -- May 6, 2003 -- PocketPurchase, Inc. today announced an innovative registration service for Palm Powered™ handhelds. PocketPurchase is the first service that allows customers to purchase mobile applications anytime, anywhere, directly on their Palm Powered device. Current distribution mechanisms only allow customers to purchase mobile software through a traditional desktop computer, causing users to be locked out of software they are evaluating. PocketPurchase removes this gap, eliminating a significant barrier to mobile software sales. With PocketPurchase, users can finally buy mobile software right when they need and want it most.

Aside from simplifying the sales process, PocketPurchase's "Automatic Update System" keeps users current with the latest version of their software. The "Coupon Discovery System" will locate any available discount offers for software the customer is currently evaluating. PocketPurchase maintains a "bookshelf" of titles customers have purchased so that reinstalling previously purchased applications is hassle-free. PocketPurchase uses strong public key encryption and a strict privacy policy to protect customers' personal information.

For developers, PocketPurchase makes it easier to promote their applications. With four different revenue sharing mechanisms, developers can easily create affiliate programs and share profits with large distributors for increased product visibility. Vendors can create coupons that will be anonymously received by customers for trial products or for paid upgrade and cross promotional offers.

"PocketPurchase streamlines the purchase process, which should result in increased revenue for our developers, " said Michael Mace, CCO and VP of Strategic Marketing, PalmSource, Inc. "Increased revenue and reduction in customer support costs should allow developers to focus on creating innovative new products. We are very excited about what PocketPurchase is doing and we think it will have major benefits for the Palm Economy."

"Our software is all about fun, and purchasing our software should be painless, " said Scott Corley, President of Red Mercury, LLC. "We like the simplicity and ease of use that PocketPurchase provides. It gets our customers back to the fun stuff faster."

PocketPurchase is available immediately for major vendors. To learn more, send email to info@pocketpurchase.com.
