AppForge Announces MobileVB Support for Palm OS 5

ATLANTA, September 22, 2003 - AppForge, Inc., a leading provider of software products and services for the handheld, mobile and wireless industry, today announced MobileVB 4.0 support for Palm OS® 5 running on Palm Powered™ mobile devices such as the Palm Tungsten and the Sony CliĆ© family of products.

MobileVB is a mobile and wireless development tool that integrates seamlessly into Microsoft Visual Studio. Palm OS developers use specialized MobileVB controls, libraries, and modules to create applications within the Visual Studio IDE. MobileVB ships with more than 30 standard controls, as well as modules and libraries for database synchronization, telephony, and gaming. MobileVB applications can be tested from within the IDE and compiled into single-file installation packages for distribution.

"AppForge MobileVB works with Palm OS 5 to interoperate with existing business technologies and leverage IT investment in developer tools and skills," said Charlie Tritschler, vice president of product marketing, PalmSource. "This solution is designed to further advance the Palm OS platform in the enterprise market by enabling the development and deployment of robust mobile solutions for Palm Powered devices."

"With AppForge making their Mobile VB Booster runtime available to the Palm OS 5 community, we can now make it even easier for businesses to build mobile applications by leveraging their organization's existing Microsoft developer skill set, while continuing to take advantage of the power and efficiency AppForge delivers on all Palm handhelds," said Jonathan Oakes, senior director of business solutions, palmOne.

With the addition of Palm OS 5 support, Microsoft developers can develop mobile applications using their existing tools and knowledge and deploy those applications on more than 90 percent of the leading mobile and wireless devices. MobileVB 4.0 will enable existing Visual Basic developers to leverage their tools and expertise to create robust solutions for Palm Powered mobile devices, while encouraging new developers to build on the Palm OS platform.

"We expect to see a significant number of new MobileVB developers who wish to quickly develop applications for the Tungten line of devices from PalmOne as well as all the other great Palm OS 5 devices on the market." said Gary Warren, CEO of AppForge. "Current MobileVB developers should expect to have their existing MobileVB applications running under Palm OS 5 in a matter of hours."

The suggested retail price of AppForge's MobileVB 4.0 version is US $899. The product will be available in October 2003.
