PalmSource and Sprint Collaborate To Drive Growth of the Smart Device Market

PalmSource Signs Sprint as Charter Member of Palm Powered MobileWorld Program

LAS VEGAS, Nev., Nov. 17, 2003, COMDEX Booth #10448 - PalmSource, Inc. (NASDAQ: PSRC) provider of Palm OS®, a leading operating system powering next generation mobile devices and smartphones, and Sprint, (NYSE: FON, PCS) which operates the largest 100-percent digital, nationwide PCS wireless network in the United States, today announced that Sprint is the first mobile operator to be signed as a charter member of the Palm Powered MobileWorld program. The program, announced separately today, will enable Sprint to offer their Palm Powered™ PCS Vision Smart Device customers the most comprehensive selection of enterprise and consumer applications.

According to IDC (2002), the converged mobile device market is the fastest growing, revenue-producing segment of the phone market. The Palm Powered MobileWorld program is designed to enable mobile operators, infrastructure providers and software developers to take advantage of the increased revenue opportunities created by Palm Powered converged mobile devices.

As a charter member of the Palm Powered MobileWorld program, Sprint will collaborate with PalmSource in several areas including cooperative marketing and leveraging the more than 275,000-strong Palm OS developer community to meet the needs of key vertical markets. This collaboration effort will enable Sprint to offer their customers one of the largest and most user-friendly catalogs of mobile applications for Palm Powered PCS Vision Smart Devices.
