PalmSource Announces China Developer Conference
China Developer Conference scheduled for December in Beijing
BEIJING, China, November 18, 2003 - PalmSource, Inc., (NASDAQ: PSRC) provider of Palm OS, a leading operating system powering next generation mobile devices and smartphones unveiled today details of the China Developer Conference to be held on December 8-9, 2003 in Beijing. This two-day conference is structured to address both the technical and business information needs of Palm OS developers, deliver the latest information about the Palm OS platform, and showcase the most recent mobile device developments from world-class Palm Powered™ licensees in Asia.
The PalmSource China Developer conference builds on the success of the 2003 Developer Conferences, in Munich, Germany and San Mateo, California. The conferences are structured to address both the technical and business information needs of developers and provide an interactive environment for attendees to connect with business partners in a relaxed setting. The two-day agenda will include:
- Presentations from senior PalmSource executives, world-class Palm Powered licensees, and strategic partners, covering technical and business trends in the China mobile device market;
- An overview of Palm OS 5 Simplified Chinese Edition and a sneak peek at the future of Palm OS;
- Programmer's Introduction to the Palm OS: "Basic Training" for developers new to Palm OS. Offered in conjunction with PalmSource Authorized Academic Training Partner Zhong Shan University, of Guangzhou P.R.C., this training course will offer new developers a basic tutorial on how to write an application for Palm OS;
- A Hardware Lab that provides developers access to "hands-on" time with new Palm Powered devices to test their applications and firsthand advice from PalmSource engineers on development of cutting-edge applications that run across multiple Palm Powered devices;
- Chinese Powered Up Awards, to honour the most innovative and successful applications based on the recently launched Palm OS 5 Simplified Chinese Edition. Applications will be evaluated by category including: games and entertainment, home and education, business and utilities Winners will be announced at the conference.
