SAN JOSE, Calif. February 10, 2004 — At the PalmSource Developer Conference, Penticon Technologies Ltd. today announced the release of Version 1.25 of PhoneMagic for Palm Powered™ handhelds and smartphones. PhoneMagic embraces the "Zen of Palm®" philosophy by maintaining a User Interface that is very similar to the built-in Address Book, yet adds many unique and innovative features. This allows any Palm Powered user to immediately feel comfortable with PhoneMagic and start benefiting from its advanced features. With PhoneMagic you'll find the phone numbers that you're looking for, faster than ever before.
The following are some of the features that make PhoneMagic unique and innovative:
- Reminders - You can set a reminder for any contact in your Address Book. At the designated time, the Palm Powered device will sound an alarm, and display all of the phone numbers for that contact. If the Palm Powered device has dialing capabilities, the number can be dialed from the Alarm screen. It can dial by Infrared, Bluetooth, or by generating Touch Tones on many newer Palm Powered devices. When you use reminders, you'll never forget to make that important phone call.
- Pop-Up Activation and Virtual Links - You can run PhoneMagic while running another application. This is a convenient way to quickly look up a phone number and then continue what you were doing on your Palm Powered device. You can create a "Virtual Link" from any application to a record in your Address Book. This is handy if you need to call someone, or check their address when you're on your way to a meeting. Just open the DateBook, find the event, and Pop-Up PhoneMagic. The correct record will automatically be shown in PhoneMagic. If you just looked up a number and called someone, you can insert an appointment in the DateBook without leaving PhoneMagic, and the appointment will automatically have a "Virtual Link" to that contact.
- View New Records - Have you ever attended a meeting or a conference, and had too many business cards beamed to you? Afterwards, you can't remember all of the names, and can't find them in your Phone Book. With PhoneMagic, it's not a problem. Using the "View New Records" feature, you can view the names in your Address Book in the reverse order that they were entered. You can even view names that were inserted before you installed PhoneMagic!
- Recent Number Management - Each time you run PhoneMagic, you'll see the ten most recent numbers that you looked up. Frequently, the number that you're looking for will be right there, without needing to look it up. PhoneMagic lets you manage the recent list, so that the numbers that need to be there, will be there when you need them.
- Smart Lookup - PhoneMagic's Smart Lookup is very easy to use, and makes it much faster to lookup a name. Using Smart Lookup, you can lookup an entry by First Name, Last Name or Company Name. In addition, you can use a combination of first and last name to quickly find a record when you've got many similar records. As you enter more characters, the list of names is narrowed down to show only the matching names.
- Stylus Free Lookup - You can easily switch between Smart Lookup and Stylus Free Lookup. Stylus Free lookup provides you with oversized buttons that can be tapped with your fingers. There is no need to take out the stylus or open the "slider". Stylus Free lookup can easily be used with one hand; and this can be useful in many situations. Within four or five taps you'll find the name that you're looking for.
PhoneMagic is highly customizable and adds color to your Address Book. It takes advantage of jog dials and five-way navigation controls. The built-in Help System helps you learn about all of the new and powerful features of PhoneMagic.
