Allows Customers to Buy Software Directly on their Mobile Device
SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb 10, 2004 — At the PalmSource Developer Conference PocketPurchase, Inc. today announced a complete, on-device solution for selling software for Palm Powered™ devices. By adding a single function call, developers can add a complete trial and registration mechanism using state of the art RSA digital keys for unlocking their applications. PocketPurchase is the first service that allows customers to purchase mobile applications anytime, anywhere, directly on their Palm Powered device. Customers are no longer locked out of an application at the end of their trial. Instead, users purchase and unlock the product immediately by simply signing their name on their device.
With the PocketPurchase Developer's Console, application vendors now have the option of outsourcing their customer management. Besides managing products, vendors can access a complete database of users who have purchased their products, can issue refunds and resend registration keys, etc. The Developer's Console is accessible through any Web browser. PocketPurchase virtually eliminates the registration code related customer service issues while simplifying customer management of all types.
Customers never need to worry about losing their registration codes. The PocketPurchase conduit automatically keeps all registration codes up to date. PocketPurchase maintains a "bookshelf" of titles customers have purchased so that reinstalling previously purchased applications is hassle-free. PocketPurchase uses strong public key encryption and a strict privacy policy to protect customers' personal information.
With the addition of the CSV processor, PocketPurchase can generate unlock codes for sales made through any distributor. The free PocketPurchase Install System can automatically generate custom Windows installers for each web store that is compliant with that site's labeling requirements. Adding a new distributor is finally easy.
