MUNICH, Germany, September 28, 2004 — At the PalmSource™ Euro DevCon 2004, ubitexx, the leading specialist for professional PDA and Smartphone solutions and provider of PDA and Smartphone security, today announced the European release of the new product: "Personal Wireless Gateway."
The Personal Wireless Gateway, short "PWG", is an accessory for standard handhelds, giving Palm Powered™ handhelds multiple connectivity possibilities and includes automatic bridging. The PWG enables the user to deploy mobile email, to do telephone calls or to stay connected to the Internet ("Always On") through Wireless technologies as Wi-Fi, GPRS and Bluetooth. Furthermore, it allows the same user, apart from using the device as a GSM phone, to place and receive calls using Voice over IP ("VoIP") to significantly reduce the cost of his communication bills.
Imagine yourself using your familiar palmOne™Tungsten T3, a Bluetooth telephone head set to do some Voice over IP telephone calls in an Wireless LAN area. With the PWG this is reality.
The Personal Wireless Gateway is connected via Bluetooth to a handheld. It has a rechargeable 950mAh Li-ion battery, dual SIM card module and SIP-based VoIP support and is also 802.11b-compliant. The PWG-300 has eight to ten hours of talk time and standby time of up to 72 hours. It utilizes echo cancellation for handsfree operation.
A unique feature of the Personal Wireless Gateway is the bridging function of Wi-Fi - GPRS to Bluetooth, where the PWG automatically decides for switching to the best service available! By doing so it saves the user not to carry a various sum of interface cards with him.
"PWG" adds the following value to handhelds that are Bluetooth enabled:

The wireless gateway measures 92x63x16mm and weighs 95g.
