PalmSource Continues to Build Momentum in Mobile Market

Company Participates in 3GSM World Congress 2005:

3GSM WORLD CONGRESS, CANNES, France, Feb. 14, 2005 — PalmSource, Inc. (NASDAQ: PSRC), provider of Palm OS®, a leading operating system powering next generation phones and mobile devices, today marked the beginning of the 3GSM World Congress 2005 with a series of announcements highlighting the momentum the Company continues to build in the mobile market. PalmSource will be exhibiting at the 3GSM World Congress and the Company's president and CEO, David Nagel, will participate as a member of a keynote panel session. In addition, PalmSource today announced four new software offerings; the availability of a new Palm Powered™ smartphone from GSPDA; eight new enterprise and consumer Palm OS wireless applications for mobile devices; and a new Palm Powered Mobile World partner.

PalmSource Broadens Product Portfolio
With the recent acquisition of China MobileSoft (CMS), PalmSource's product line now includes four new software applications designed for smartphones, feature phones and mobile devices at all price points. Available now, the new product offerings include PalmSource™ mFone for Smart Phones, PalmSource™ Feature Phone, PalmSource™ mMMS and PalmSource™ mBrowser. In the future, PalmSource plans to give the phone applications and phone software the Palm OS look–and–feel and data compatibility, extending the industry–leading Palm OS ease–of–use to all classes of mobile phones worldwide.

New Palm Powered Smartphone
Designed with an open, modular architecture, the Palm OS platform provides licensees and software developers the flexibility to create differentiated products and solutions that address the needs of various markets. Announced today, the Palm Powered Xplore M68 smartphone is the fourth–generation product from Palm OS licensee GSPDA. Based on Palm OS® Garnet, the Xplore M68 delivers enhanced multi media features, Bluetooth and a higher resolution integrated camera. The GSPDA Xplore M68 is now available through distributors in France, Germany, Italy and Spain. Pricing will be determined by the individual distributors.

New Palm OS Wireless Solutions
With over 380,000 registered software developers worldwide, PalmSource has one of the largest software developer communities in the world producing innovative solutions for Palm Powered™ phones and mobile devices. Newly launched today are eight software applications that leverage the advanced functionality of Palm Powered devices to enable users to manage complex information, store photos, access news, stream music, send instant messages (IM) and participate in online auctions from anywhere. The new Palm OS® third party software applications include:

  • SonicAdmin from Sonic Mobility
  • M–Penbase by Penbase
  • O–Anywhere version 1.0 by Abidia
  • English/Spanish dictionary from Handmark, Inc.
  • Kinoma Player 3.1 EX by Kinoma
  • SplashBlog by Splashdata
  • Quicknews by Stand–alone
  • VeriChat 2.5 by Verichat.

These software applications will be showcased in the PalmSource booth located in Stand K5 in Hall 4 of the Palais des Festivals. The applications are also available for trial and purchase through the PalmSource software store located online at www.palmsource.com/software and over the–air (OTA) at www.palmsource.com/mobile.

New Palm Powered Mobile World Partner
Also announced today, Qualphone, Inc. has joined the Palm Powered™ Mobile World program. In the first phase of the collaboration, Qualphone will work together with PalmSource to port its Push–to–talk over Cellular (PoC) client to the Palm OS® platform. Together with Palm OS, the solution is designed to provide users with an easy–to–use and reliable push–to–talk experience on Palm Powered phones and mobile devices. Qualphone develops high–quality 3G/IP embedded software solutions for smartphones and mobile devices.

The Palm Powered Mobile World program connects mobile operators, infrastructure providers and software developers together in an effort to successfully bring Palm OS® software applications and solutions to market, provide increased revenue opportunities for partners and deliver a superior user experience for Palm Powered phones and mobile devices.

CEO to Speak on Keynote Panel
On Monday, February 14th, David Nagel, PalmSource president and CEO will participate on a keynote panel, along with other industry CEO's, entitled "Ensuring the Opportunities of Market Diversity are Maximised" at 1:10 pm in the Debussy Theatre located on Level 1 of the Palais des Festivals.

Latest Palm Powered products and Palm OS solutions at PalmSource Booth PalmSource will showcase the latest Palm Powered mobile devices and solutions in the Company's booth including, the new GSPDA Xplore M68 smartphone and the eight new Palm OS third party applications. In addition, attendees will be able to see a demonstration of Palm OS® Cobalt running on the industry–leading OMAP™ platform from Texas Instrument (TI), including the OMAP730 GSM/GPRS processor and OMAP850 EDGE processor. The PalmSource booth is located in Stand K5 in Hall 4 of the Palais des Festivals.
