Trust Digital First Company to Receive FIPS 140–2 Encryption Certification on Latest Palm Powered Devices
Enterprise Mobile Security Market Leader Certified on Treo 650 and T5 Devices
McLean, Virginia – March 14, 2005 — Trust Digital, the leading provider of enterprise mobile security software solutions, today received notification from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) that its encryption library for Palm OS® Garnet has been certified and validated according to Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140–2 requirements. This certification ensures government and commercial buyers that they can securely and safely use the Treo 650 and T5 devices while running the Trust Digital software. The first mobile security provider to do so, Trust Digital is also the only provider to maintain complete FIPS cross–platform certification for its flagship software suite.
"The power and flexibility of the Palm OS continues to broaden the appeal of mobile computing. With such device proliferation comes the need to add increasing levels of security," added Larry Berkin, Director of Worldwide Developer Marketing, PalmSource. "We are thrilled about Trust Digital taking a lead role in developing a FIPS 140–2 certified solution for the latest Palm Powered™ platforms, ensuring customers and prospects that they can take advantage of mobile computing without incurring security risk."
According to NIST, FIPS 140–2 puts forth a standard that is used by Federal organizations when these organizations specify that cryptographic–based security systems are to be used to provide protection for sensitive or valuable data. FIPS 140–2 currently applies to all US and Canadian government agencies.
"Our customers count on us to meet or exceed the highest standards of compliance. We are pleased to be the first company to obtain FIPS certification for the latest Palm platforms," added Nick Magliato, CEO, Trust Digital. "This achievement further demonstrates Trust Digital's technology leadership position in the mobile security space," said Nick Magliato, CEO, Trust Digital.
